I’m blessed to work with many of the brightest folks in our format. Some are Ph.D. level, and some are just sticking their head out of the egg. But they have one thing in common. They are all THINKERS.

Always thinking. Always imaging things better. Never accepting “we’ve always done it that way” as the best we can do.

In looking back at my 50+ years in radio I was rarely the smartest person in the room, but I was always a thinker.

Why do we do it this way? What does the listener care about?

And then, when I was face to face with really smart people they helped teach me how to transform my perspective into big ideas.

“I’ve never thought about it that way before”

…is the refrain of people in learning mode.

Surround yourself with thinkers. Something we haven’t yet thought of yet might be the next big idea.

“You can’t regurgitate and learn.”
